Beware of Companies offering 'Cash-Back/Reclaim' Schemes

There are several Companies both here in the UK and at popular holiday destinations in Europe that offer a 'solution' that is allegedly backed by a 'Cash-Back' program

These should be avoided at all costs - they generally involve paying out many Thousands of Pounds with the promise of a Cash-Back Voucher/Cheque several years down the line

Often these Companies will ask you to sign over your Deeds or Membership Certificates - and never actually execute the Transfer - leaving you even more out of pocket - and still receiving the Management Fee bills

What Usually Happens...

In some cases the Company will cease trading during the period that the 'Cash-Back Certificate is 'maturing' and the Owners do not receive any money 'back' at all - In these cases the whole Cash-Back program was bogus from the start

Sometimes the Cash-Back Certificate is genuine - but only pays out a small fraction of what was indicated or promised - most of these Cash-Back schemes have a guaranteed minimum payout - usually between 5 to 10% - providing the claim procedure is followed correctly

In other cases - the procedure for registering & processing your claim is purposely made so complicated that almost all claims cannot be conducted within the very complex Terms & Conditions - even if you do successfully negotiate these rules - you will still only get a small percentage of the face value of the Cash-Back/Reclaim Certificate

Regardless of which of the above prevails - these schemes as best avoided at all costs - we are not talking about hundreds of Pounds here - we are talking about Thousands of Pounds - all of which is recoverable if the transaction(s) involve any of the following

1. If the transaction happened within the last six-years

2. If the transaction(s) was/were made with any payment(s) using a Credit/Debit Card (only applies to UK issued Cards for amounts between £100 - £30 000)

3. Includes any re-payment program that had installments that have been paid within the last six-years
